CoachVille Caffeine Interview On August 11, 2008

I am going to be the guest coach on CoachVille’s daily Caffeine tele-program on Monday, August 11th!  As described on CoachVille’s Home Page (www.coachville.com), CoachVille Caffeine is “a 30 minute boost for your coaching possibilities”.

I will be interviewed by Terri Zelenak, General Manager of CoachVille.  The focus of the interview will be about “tackling high emotional charge niches”.  I will be talking about my Adoption Triad Coach niche (www.adoptiontriadcoach.com).  Terri will ask questions around how I stay objective, how I handle the high emotional energy and stay empathetic, how it is different to build a coaching practice in this niche, etc.

CoachVille Caffeine calls are at 1:00 PM Eastern and are available live by phone AND internet, plus podcast.  Go to CoachVille’s Home Page, find the CoachVille Caffeine section, and click through for details!

Hope you join me on August 11th!

Have You Found YOUR Own Niche?

Recently, I participated as a presenter in a TeleSummit.  My presentation was entitled “Attention Coaches!  Assess the Health of Your Coaching Practice!”  One question I posed was, “What is holding you back in your coaching practice?”  There are many possible answers to this question, of course.  One answer I suggested is not having a specific coaching niche or pursuing a niche to which you weren’t really called.

A few minutes ago, I came upon an excerpt from John C. Maxwell’s “The 17 Indisputable Laws of Teamwork”.  It so perfectly supports the importance of having your own niche, that I must share it with you!

“Have you found your niche?  As you fulfill your responsibilities, do you find yourself thinking something like, There’s no place like this place anywhere near this place, so this must be the place?  If so, then stay the course and keep growing and learning in your area of expertise.  If not, you need to get on track.

If you know what your niche is but aren’t working in it, start planning a transition.  It could be as simple as a change in duties or as complex as a change of career.  No matter whether it will require six weeks or six years, you need a transition plan and a timetable for completing it.  Once you’re certain of your course, have the courage to take the first step.

If you have no idea what you should be doing, you need to do some research.  Talk to your spouse and close friends about your strengths and weaknesses.  Ask for your leader’s assessment.  Take personality or temperament tests.  Look for recurring themes in your life.  Try to articulate your life purpose.  Do whatever it takes to find clues concerning where you should be.  Then try new things related to your discoveries.  The only way to find your niche is to gain experience.”

You don’t have to be a coach to understand the impact of this!  Whatever you do in life, I encourage you to find your niche and spend some time involved with and in it!

If you don’t know where to begin, or realize you need some encouragement, support, and accountability, consider investing in some life coaching!  To learn more about my coaching services, visit my website at www.margotwurst.com.

Upcoming Workshop Presentation: Post-Reunion Family Relationships Can Be Successful!

I leave this coming Wednesday to attend the American Adoption Congress’ (AAC) 29th International Adoption Conference - in Portland, Oregon.  I’ve never been to Portland, so that will be fun!  I know some friends of mine from Southern California will be at the Conference.  It will be so good to be with them!

The Conference will be three full days of relevant, informative, and supportive workshops.  I always learn so much at these conferences!

I am doing a Workshop presentation on Saturday morning, March 29th!  (The title of my Workshop is the title of this Post.)  I am so looking forward to this time of sharing with fellow members of the Adoption Triad.

I am a birth mother and have been reunited with my son since 1999.  He searched for and found me when he was not quite 25 years old.  We have a wonderful relationship today!  We are enjoying the Post-Reunion stage of our relationship!

I attended my first AAC conference in April 2000 - in Anaheim, CA.  My emotions were very raw.  Our reunion process was up and down.  I remember how amazed I was to be surrounded by so many other people who were feeling just like me!

The first workshop I participated in that was led by a reunited birth mother was life-changing for me in many ways.  One thing I said to myself was, “One day, I am going to be a birth mother standing up front presenting!”  I’m doing it!  This is an important part of my own process to give voice to my experience and my position in the Triad.

Doing this presentation is also honoring the Mission God has given me.  He did not bless me with this awesome life experience just to keep it to myself.  No way!  So, I am grateful for the opportunity to step more fully into my God-given purpose.  Being obedient to God and His purpose for me is also very exciting!

How are you doing in this regard?  Think about it - today!  And, send me a Comment on this…would love to share with you!

Christian Spiritual Retreats for Rejuvenation!

I love going on individual spiritual retreats.  I have not actually gotten to do so for almost 5 years!  That is way too long for me!  While I love being with people, I also love solitude and silence - and spending intimate time with God.

So, I decided that this Summer I am taking one week of vacation and spending that week at a Christian retreat center.  I have it booked!  For the first time, I am going on a 5-day retreat!  I am so looking forward to the experience - and to what God has for me during this time with Him.

If you have never tried an individual Christian spiritual retreat, I encourage you to do so!  Even a one-day retreat is wonderful!

I would love to hear back from you on the topic of retreats - what you have done, the benefits of retreats…please share your experiences!

Do You Have A Plan For 2008 and Beyond?

Here we are almost half way through January 2008!  How are you doing with working your plan?  Do you have a specific plan?

In “Your Road Map for Success” John C. Maxwell writes:

“If you could go anywhere, where would you like to go?  Not in terms of vacations, but in your life.  Your answer to that question does a lot to determine whether or not you’re successful.  You see, we’re all on a journey, whether we know it or not.  We are traveling inevitably toward the ends of our lives.  So the real question for us is whether we’re going to select a destination and steer a course for it, or allow ourselves to be swept along with the tide, letting others determine where we’ll end up.  The choice is entirely up to us.”

WHAT SPECIFIC DESTINATION ARE YOU STEERING YOUR LIFE TOWARD?

What goals have you set for yourself in your profession, your ministry, your home life, and your soul care?  Are you steering your course toward the excellent realization of those goals?  If not, why?

I would love to hear back from some of you!  Let’s share our ideas, our victories, and our challenges with this!  Send me a Comment.  Let’s get a dialog going!

Wise Speech

One important component  of clear communication is choosing and using your words wisely.  Proverbs 20:15 says, “Wise speech is rarer and more valuable than gold and rubies.” (NLT)

In the busyness of our daily schedules, we must stay focused and intentional when it comes to wisely communicating with others.  This is important in every aspect of life - professional life, ministry life, and home life.  Remember that what you say, and how you say it, can be very impactful to the person receiving your words!

There are many wonderful scriptures that “speak” to this topic!  What are some of your favorites?  Post a comment!
